Lake E Daily News, 8 May, 2009

The day started with a trip by nine of us by vezdahot to the cabin at the south end of the lake where we recovered the tipping bucket rain gauge for Matt Nolan, UAF. This required a fairly massive digging operation.   We also used this as an opportunity for Moira and Jared to talk to us about the 2000 and 2003 expeditions.  We entered the cabin and found some small quantity of our dry goods and canned foods were left neatly on the veranda shelves, right were we left it in 2003.  Our topo maps were also still pinned to the wall over the dinning table.

In camp worked continued with some help from the dozer and crane this morning.  Nine of our 15 containers are now completely packed and inventoried, and only need locks.  So in the remaining 4 days we can easily finish the inventory and lock up of the remaining 6 containers.   We will also finish clean up of the flagging etc from the ice.

Today the weather was sunny and calm in the afternoon with temperatures around +5 C.

sincerely, Julie BG
